Welcome
The Association des descendants de Louis Tétreau is happy to welcome you to its web site. If you have any interest in the history of your ancestors named Tétreau/Tétreault/Tétrault/Tetro/Tatro, you've come to the right place. Our goal is to share with you our passion for the history and the genealogy of our extended family.
Enjoy your visit!
Who is Louis Tetreau ?
Louis Tétreau immigrated to New France in the middle of the 17th century. Soon after his arrival, he married Noëlle Landeau, the widow of Jean Beaudoin. Louis and Noëlle are the ancestors of all those named Tétreau/Tétreault/ Tétrault/Tetro/Tatro in North America as well as many named Ducharme descended from their son Joseph-Marie.
Louis Tetreau's origins
Our ancestor Louis hails from Tessonnière, a small village in the Department of Deux-Sèvres in the Poitou-Charente region of France. In 2013, thanks to the generosity of its members, the Association was able to affix a commemorative plaque in the heart of the village of Tessonnière.
The Newsletter "Les Tétreau disent... (The Tetreaus say...)"
This newsletter, published twice a year, allows our members to share the results of their research. Some members use the newsletter to tell the story of one or several members of their family. Others introduce us to descendants of Louis Tétreau who have distinguished themselves in a particular field. The newsletter reports on past events and announces future activities.
