The archives center

In order to meet the goals laid down by its Charter, the Association has set up an Archives Center. Those archives consist of books, documents, research work, geographical maps, photographs and other documents donated by members. The gigantic work of Mr. Eugene R. Tatro (057) should be noted. For more than 40 years, he has compiled families in order to affiliate them.

For more than 20 years, Andre Tetrault (001) of Rougemont has made an effort to authenticate notary contracts of the first Tetreau families. He has also tried to retrace all marriage contracts of Louis Tetreau's descendants, either from the men side as well of the women side. Andre transcribes those contracts by hand.

Marcel Bouthillier (009) and his wife, Danielle Tetreault (002), have tried to photocopy all the baptism, marriage and burial acts, in order to create family group sheets. The Center has a copy of most of the parochial acts, from the beginning of New-France up to 1820.

We received nineteen microfilms of notary acts, a donation of Mr. Roland Tetreault (112).

The Center continues to grow every day. We will be glad to accept any documents about the great Tetreau family, photocopies are acceptable. All requests can be sent to the association, c/o Mr. André Tétreault, 52, route 102, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Qc. J2X 1H1 Canada.
